PATIENT RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES STATEMENT
Al Zahra Hospital – Medina commits to provide a unique healthcare which begins through the cooperation between the patient and their family from one side and the hospital staff from the other side.
Patient Rights:
- To be informed of your rights and responsibilities as a patient receiving healthcare services in Al Zahra Hospital.
- To be informed (patient & family) about the healthcare and services provided by the hospital and how to benefit from those services.
- To receive care with respect for your religious, social, and cultural values in a safe atmosphere, with privacy and religious support when needed.
- To demand and receive the security of your personal belongings while being at the hospital.
- To be protected from any physical or psychological harm while being at the hospital.
- To have your personal and medical information kept confidential and protected from harm.
- To receive respectful and compassionate care in case of terminal illness and proper treatment of the deceased body.
- To be informed about your diagnosis, treatment plan, and side effects in an understandable way to make informed decisions.
- To be informed about the doctor and medical team involved in your care.
- To consult any other doctor inside or outside the hospital regarding your condition.
- To be provided with translation services when needed.
- To refuse treatment or part of it, after being informed of consequences and signing the refusal form.
- To receive a copy of the discharge report and health data to facilitate follow-up care.
- To have pain assessed and treated appropriately.
- To decide which family member receives information about your condition.
- To make complaints or suggestions and be informed of the complaint policy without it affecting your care.
- To be informed about financial costs and payment methods before receiving services.
- To be provided with a higher-category room at no extra cost if your insurance category room is unavailable.
Patient Responsibilities:
- All patients, families, and visitors must comply with Al Zahra Hospital policies and regulations.
- Treat staff with respect and refrain from any physical, moral, or verbal abuse. Report complaints through proper channels.
- Provide accurate personal and family health information to receive appropriate care.
- Request clarification if you do not understand any part of your diagnosis or treatment.
- Do not bring valuables unless necessary for your hospital stay.
- Inform nursing staff or your physician of any changes in your condition.
- Refrain from smoking in all hospital areas as per policy.
- Follow the hospital’s visitation policy to ensure all patients’ comfort.
- Understand that critical patients may receive priority care.
- Follow all hospital safety instructions.
- Use hospital property responsibly and cover any damages due to misuse.
- Pay all healthcare service charges promptly.
